New toon owner/ Rebuild

Hello all! I;m new to pontoons and the forum as well. I've up on this forum for some time now and joined up. I just bought a 1984 Playcraft 24' Pontoon with a Johnson 100hp last month and have stripped down to bare bones ready for new decking.

I'm not sure how to get them to rotate on here. On my PC they are straight. I'll try again.

Well, it's getting close to the time to get plywood for my deck. I was thinking about painting the bottom side of all sheets of wood to help seal them. ( edges as well ). What ya'll think? I cleaned all my rails with coil cleaner and I scuffed them with a red scuff pad and dawn soap. Came out like brushed satin aluminium, I think it looks good IMHO. Here's pick of the bow corner rails. Sorry about the pics always coming out sideways.

Good to know! Thanks Curtis! Beside breaking out with buffer on the toons, is there a better way to clean those up. It don't have to shine like chrome, I was thinking more like the bottom of a cola can. ( semi gloss? )

Yeah I might just clean mine real good and call it good.

Did you buy the small one or the large one? What i did I cut out paper gauges and moved them around until I saw what I liked.

Well, I just got my Deck kit in from PS and we are getting ready to make some head way on the boat. Went with the gray vinyl and PS's marine ply. This should start coming coming together!!

Okay, over the weekend I picked up  1976 Evinrude 135 from my step father for free. Motors fine, runs strong but the tilt & trim will power up. Then when I power down, the trim motor runs down about halfway then the 135 stops like it hit something. I see the lock lever is in the up position so it's not that it. I see there is a pin that could be used to set the min down travel but that's not stopping it either. Maybe there is debris in the rams or lines?? It's the 3 wire set up with pump hanging off the starboard side of the transom mount. I'll post pics as soon as i can. any ideas would be great. Thanks guys and gals!

Gerald143, I'll have to see what brand coil cleaner I used. I just rinsed them off after I used the cleaner and came back with a red scotch bright and dawn soap with water. Came out really well.

I will have to see about pictures. I've had *inappropriate language not permitted* trying to post pics from day 1 lol.

Got the vinyl glued down. Today I will get her trimmed out and install all my trim. Now we get build!!

I really wish I could get these pics rotated for ya'll but I can't figure it out for some reason. Pics taken with I phone 7.

Here, we are getting an idea of how she will look with rails on her.


This is after me and a buddy (who did most of the popping and got nailed by a red wasp and his rivet gun) got done popping 600+ rivets. Sore arms!!!!


And here we have the rear portion of my rails actually installed with the risers in place. Really looking like boat now!!  

And a side view! Waiting on door hinges so I can set my doors up before I button down my front rails.
Really glad Gerard143 told me about the pic edit. It works!  Now all the nickel and dime small stuff needs my attention hehehe! Console is next.

Thanks! Well I figured out why my Rudy 135 wont tilt down. My trim ram is either hitting something internally or is not letting fluid out so it can come down. Just my head gaskets in for it too!!! Now for the water pump......

I have alot of things done on this boat so far. I will update with pictures soon. Got the helm in place, steering and controls in place. The 135 Rudy is getting a second chance... We shall see on that. Just received my PWR-ARM bimini top in today, assembly tonight. All my rails are in place along with doors and new white fencing.
