The new weight rates that are going into effect, are for commercial vessels and don't affect personal use vessels (yet but I see it coming). The old rates were based on something like people weighing avg of 160 YEARS ago and not us fat people like (ME) avg 250lbs.

I think the current rating are crazy, at least on my boat. They say the max. number of persons on mine is 14 or 2030 Lbs. That works out to 145 Lbs per person.Confused I think that even if I had 14 people onboard that weighed 100 lbs, I would be taking on water just sitting still.LOL Course they would have to be stacked on top of each other on my little 20'er..
LOL

Mine is a 1993 Voyager & the rating is 12 persons OR 1800 lbs. 3000 lbs, person, motor, gear & rated for a 115 hp engine.  I read somewhere on the USCG site that the avg. weight was to be figured at 150 lbs person  but it might have been more/less. Either way I refuse to take more then 8 people at any one time just due to safety concerns for everyone & I'd rather not take that many at one time. It starts getting a little crowded once more than 4-6 are onboard IMO.

Yours must be a 24ft as my 20ft 93 Voyager is rated for 90hp, 9 people at 1270lbs which is just a tad over 141 pounds a person (even kids nowadays weigh more than that). 1890 lbs total allowed for the boat. Motor, gear, fuel, and passengers etc.

Mine is the 24' King Fisher model. When I contacted Voyager last month about getting a new rating plate I was pleasantly surprised to find out the boat had left the factory originally with the wrong rating plate on it based on the HIN number.  The old rating was the same as yours with a 90 hp engine but the new one is more.  The lady in the parts dept was kind enough to include 2 of the original sales flyers & a list of optional equipment for it back in 1993.
