Hello everyone, looking for some expert opinions. I've talked to many different local boat dealers and mechanics and can't seem to come up with a solution. End of last year my new motor finally arrived and was mounted on my 25' pontoon. Mercury 150L, the motor runs great and I was so hopeful to get much better performance than the 60 that was on it. I boat in the lower potomac and need to be able to get from one place to the other quick. The problem I'm having is that the motor blows out right at 20mph. There is so much more there to gain but it seems like one the lifting strakes come into play the motor is coming to far out the water and loosing bite. Below are some pics on the engine and mount. Its as low as it can go.
Taking any advice or opinions. Thanks Ron. ![]() |

Have you tried a big blade prop like an Inertia ECO?
