Hi, my name is Tim, I have not been on since 2008 when we did are last rebuild of a 1998 smoker craft, I have been fishing with my 18 ft tracker nitro 150, but we have decided to go back to a pontoon, I was recently in Vegas, when I found a 1992 t=suntracker 24 ft for sale, the pontoon boat seats and all was horrible, but the pontoon were perfect and the 115 johnson showed 125 psi on each cylinder and ran good, well, I bought it for , and the tadem axle trailer is perfect and the tires new, had it shipped home to western colorado, I bought it on a monday at noon, and was sitting in my drive way that night at about 10 pm, I did not get home until thursday.
we started tearing it down last weekend, below are the original pics before demo. ![]() ![]() Edited by TSMODIE1 - 03/31/2017 at 9:15pm |

We stripped it downlast weekend and am installing the wood and carpet today, we have ordered all the furniture and carpet from PS, everything is here so far, we decided we did not want BLUE on this, as every boat we have had has been blue, I ordered black aluminum fencing from PONTOONFENCING>COM, they are affilliated with PS, we decided on grey carpeting in the cut loop, the furniture will be the premium in the Ivory, tan and grey, we also ordered 2 power bimini tops for this, the original bimini is blue and I wanted twin tops, so I would have to order anew full bimini to for the front and change the fabric on the old one to black, so this was going to caost about 800 dollars, so decided 2 new power tops for 1500 would be beter and they would match.
There will be a long couch, 55 inch and a corner unit and a lean back, just in front of the console, which is new too, and 2 captains chairs up front, up front on the port side there will be a 5 ft we bar with 2 stools and a sink, all the stereo and lighting will be in the bar console, along with a battery to power the stereo, all LED lighting, and the live well, to the left of the console will be 2 flip/flops, with a table between them, then 2 captains chair in the rear, and a changing room inbetweem them,. we fish most of the time, so I bought a Minn kota ulterra 112 with power stow and deploy for the front, this is a 36 volt system, so 3 batteries will be located undr the front couch, there will be alot of custom boxes installed also, this should be a fun rebuild, hope to have it mostly done by the end of Feburary,Tim

got the wood on today, went down pretty easilly, will do carpet tomarrow, when the wood arrived last monday, there was a damaged sheet, PS replaced it immediately and it arrived on friday, when putting the wod down, I noticed a piece had slight delaminating, I dont think this wood is the quality I got from PS on my last rebuild, finish was not as good, but will work,Tim

Yes, Craig, this is a twin to the Floater, except your is 2 years newer, I rd your rebuild post back in December, before I purchased this one, and went back this morning to reread it, every thing from the cutting of the wood is the same, and you motor is different from mine, mine is a tracker 115, but looks wider, is yours a inline 4 cylinder or a v-4? Also, did you do the live well in one of the flip flops?
We got the capeting down on sunday, and I brought back to the house, the rear aluminum panel to pratice on the replacing of the paneling, below is a picture of the finished panel. ![]() When we demo'd the console, I realy messed up the controller, the old controller had a broken handle on it, but the guy I bought from said he had purchased a new handle, and was in the box he gave me, well, I pretty much destroyed the old controller, so figured I would just get a new one, well, the new BRP controller, with the warm up lever and ignition switch is about 300 dollars, but since my motor is a 1992, I would also need to purchase the harness to my motor for this to work, another 250 dollars, and with new cables, about 6 hundred total, ouch!, so this morning I was goint through the box he gave me, and low and behold, there is a brand new controller in the box, identical to the original, and the instructions and all parts, BONUS! ![]() |

Thanks for the link craig, we got alot done this weekend, we removed the old white and blue aluminum and replaced it with Black from pontoon fencing.com, it was 300 dollars fro a 60 ft roll, they said it would do most 24 ft toons, and it was close. Had 6 inches left. Took about 1 1/2 hours for each panel, and I have 8 panels. they said yu just score it with a carpet knife nd snap it off. Hah, not happening with a 12 ft piece, you have to score it and bend it back and forth until it snaps, we ended up using a jigsaw and it worked very well, it was alot of work and fabricating, but it looks good.
![]() ![]() ![]() we put together the 55"bench, lean back and corner to see how they looked. Well, I ordered a right lean back, and should have ordered the left lean back, my bad, but I will swap the leanback with the corner unit, it will work out fine. ![]() ![]() Tomorrow I will get the console done, new controller, gauges and steering. and this weekend install it and the Twin Bimini tops, and all wired up, then I can lay out the rest of the furniture,Tim

No, on the trackers, the fence supports e welded on, and if ai used the risers, I thought the support for the fencing wouuld not be enought for the double power biminis, and I also did not like the way they looked on it,Tim

We spent all day on the boat monday and got alot accomplished, we got the console finished and wired, and some more furniture installed.
I have been reading alot of forums on cleaning and polishing the pontoons. the majority of the people have had great success with a product from Napa auto, called Macs aluminum brightener, I stop by on the way to the boat and picked up a bottle to try. Our ladder on the back was almost completely black, alot worse than the toons, I took it outside and sprayed the Aluminum brightener on it and let it sit for 30 seconds, and then just rinsed it off, WOW!! this stuff works great, below you will see it in one of the pictures, it looks brand new, and was so easy, it worked alot better than the Pontoon bright I used on my last pontoon boat, can wait to use on the toons ,Tim ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I am getting back to th boat tomorrow, plan on finishing the back platforms for the battery and oil tank, install graphics, and wiring up and mounting the trolling motor. I have a couple of questions, for anyone using a trolling motor on a 24 ft pontoon.
We mostly troll for browns and lake trout, I have the Minnkota 55lb thrust on my 18ft nitro, it does good, runs about 4mph on top speed, I purchased the Minnkota Ulterra 112 lb for this boat, anybody use these? Its a 36 volt system. I need to hold 1.5 mph , sometimes in heavy winds. Does anyone have experience with this size on a 24ft pontoon? Its the biggest I can get, so hope it will work ok? Tim

We managed to gt alot done this week, we got the seats bolted down, except for the couch, the sundeck covered and installed today we got the graphics on, the pontoons cleaned and the gas tank on, I am running out of things to do, we still have to build the Bar, and there is so much wiring to do on after the bar is installed, since the stereo, speakers, livewell, all LED lights are run off the battery under the bar, there are 3 batteries under one side of the couch thqat runs just the trolling motor, and a 4 bank Noco genius charger that will charge the three batteries for the trolling motor and the one under the bar, spent 1000 dollars on 5 batteries and the charger. Below are the pics from today, showing the graphics and the toon cleaning, the first five are the graphics before cleaning the toons, and the next 5 are after cleaning the toons, I sure m impressed with the Napa Aluminum Brightner, took about 1/2 an hour to both toons, inside and out. I mixed 1 to 1 with water and it still does a fantastic job, and easy. I used about 3/4 gallon to do both toons, inside and out, Tim

yes, but it is too small for the pump, I might have to have a larger box welded on,. Today I am finishing the bar, and hopefully get it installed tommorrow , and can start the wiring job and finishing it up, last weekend was beautiful, and we took out the nitro for some fishing, I will miss that boat, but am looking forward to the new one,Tim

Well, its finally done, its been a month since I last posted progress on it, I had alot of problems with the building the bar, I built it at home, and did not have the boat here, well to tell the story, I had it measured at 60 incehs long, but i built it 6 foot long, so was 12 inches too long, when I set it on the boat, it hit the front seat????? My bad, so I brought it home and cut 12 inches off the bar, and refinished it with pint nd 4 more coats of polyurethane, that set me back a week. the guy that was building the bar tops and the table top out of Corian, also took a week longer. Nothing else could be done until the bar was build and put in, since the battery under the bar runs the LED lighting, streo, fish finders and the livewell and sink pump, so no wiring could be done until it was in, so all that went in last weekend and got it finished, I found a local guy to to the bar tops and the table, he was extremely nice and did all three for 200 dollars,, Home depot quoted me 1000 dollars, so I found a local guy that does only Corian, and had enough scraps, that matched my interior perfect, they turned out fantastic, this week end, I got the trolling motor and quick disconnect in, and wired up, this is a Minn Kota ulterra 112 lbs of thrust, GPS guided, and power deploy and stow, it works great, below are the pictures of it finished, we are going to the lake tomorrow, and I will post more pics of it,Tim
